It’s been three or four days since I unboxed the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, and unfortunately, nonstop rain has kept me from testing it. Today, the weather is bright and sunny, so I’m heading to the beach for my first flight. I want to ensure everything works smoothly because tomorrow, I’m embarking on a four-day solo trip to the mountains. There, I plan to thoroughly explore the Mavic 4 Pro and create a unique video, unlike anything I’ve done before. I’m thrilled about this adventure. Here we are—time to see what the Mavic 4 Pro is all about.
New Features and First Flight
I love the redesigned gimbal protector—it’s much easier to attach and remove. The new remote has several features to get used to, like the foldable screen that powers on automatically and the auto-retractable gimbal sticks. Everything is designed for ease and convenience, especially when you’re rushing to capture a shot. One standout feature: it’s remarkably quiet.
Now, let’s take it for a spin and see how it performs on its first flight. The view with the ship is stunning, and I immediately want to test the six-times zoom. From one-times to 2.5-times, then six-times zoom—the switch between cameras is significantly faster than on the Mavic 3. Everything feels smoother and quicker. That’s my first impression.

Testing the “Trippy” Feature
There’s a new feature I want to try with the ship. By pressing the C1 button and turning the right dial, I can create some mind-bending shots. Wow, that’s trippy! I’m even flying upside down—crazy! I keep rotating until I hit 180 degrees, or maybe even 360, to level out the shot. Unfortunately, I forgot to hit record, but I’ll have plenty of chances to capture these shots later. The movement is incredibly smooth, even in windy conditions, and the drone remains stable. A small indicator shows when the drone is leveled at 0°. That was impressive—really impressive.
Zoom Stability and Performance
The six-times zoom camera is impressively stable, with no noticeable wobbling, unlike the Mavic 3 Pro. This is a significant improvement. My first impressions: the drone is exceptionally smooth, solid, and faster in terms of booting up and switching lenses. The rotating lens effect is insane, and I’m even more excited for my mountain trip.
Arriving at the Destination
After about six hours of driving, I arrived at my destination and checked into a room with an incredible view. The balcony overlooks a breathtaking landscape—perfect for relaxing with a coffee. Naturally, the first thing I did after unpacking was fly a battery with the Mavic 4 Pro from the balcony. Here are my first shots from this new location.
Challenges with Weather
[Music] The next day, the rain returned, frustrating my plans. It’s now 3:00 p.m., and I’ve been waiting for the rain to stop. I drove to different areas hoping for better weather, but the rain was relentless. Now, it seems the worst is over, and I can focus on flying the Mavic 4 Pro. The remote’s screen is bright and clear, even with some reflections, and it’s less reflective than it appears. The drone takes off from my car’s roof, and I’m cautious because it’s still foggy. I want to capture the foggy mountain peaks without getting the drone too wet.

Creative POV Shot Experiment
Next, I ventured into a forest to create a POV shot with the Mavic 4 Pro. I rigged the drone to my camera using a clamp and a magic arm, one side attached to the camera and the other to the drone. The goal was to create a blurry POV effect by moving the drone manually, mimicking flight. I carefully rotated the camera to capture the trees in the background, hoping the blur would hide that the drone wasn’t airborne. It looked ridiculous, but these are the sacrifices for art. After a final spin, I got the shot.
A Martian Landscape
It’s a new day and a new opportunity for adventure. The location feels otherworldly—like Mars. The rock formations and foggy landscape are surreal, and I can’t wait to fly here. I filmed some B-roll and other shots for the main Mavic 4 Pro video, which should be out by now. Check the description for the link. This video is a behind-the-scenes look at my process and real-time reactions. Today, I feel like I’m on Mars, and the sun is finally out after four days of absence. I’m thrilled with how everything is turning out.
Remote Controller Feedback
While the remote is convenient with its bright 2,000-nit screen, there are a few drawbacks. If you grab it by the screen, it unfolds too easily, which can be a pro or a con. I accidentally dropped my FPV remote today and broke a switch, so it’s not been a great day for remotes. Also, when you set it down, the antennas rest directly on the ground, which isn’t ideal on uneven surfaces. Still, the screen’s visibility is excellent, especially compared to an iPhone, which dims and overheats.
Spontaneous Filming and Local Adventures
On my way back to the hotel, I couldn’t resist stopping to fly a bit more—the view was too good to pass up. Later, my friend Alex, a local, showed me some incredible mountain spots. It involved intense off-roading, but the results were worth it. Those shots are among my favorites with the Mavic 4 Pro. Instead of describing them, I’ll let the footage speak for itself. [Music]
Final Thoughts on the Mavic 4 Pro
Good morning! It’s the last day of my trip, and I’m heading home soon. I wanted to summarize my initial experience with the Mavic 4 Pro, which I tested in varied conditions at a brand-new location. This trip was about exploring somewhere unfamiliar to see the drone with fresh eyes. The Mavic 4 Pro feels modern, smooth, and high-quality. I’m a big fan of the six-times zoom lens, though the 2.5-times lens can be soft in some scenarios. The six-times lens offers better consistency across conditions.
The colors and D-Log on all lenses are fantastic, and the lens-switching process is seamless, giving me peace of mind. After reviewing the footage, I’m impressed, though it’s early in my testing phase—I’ve only had the drone for a week. Hopefully, you agree the shots are incredible. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you for watching and for your support. Check out the main Mavic 4 Pro video and the drone purchase link in the description. Your support through my links is greatly appreciated. This is Mike from Drone Supremacy. Take care, and I’ll catch you in the next one. Ciao.
