Useful Accessories for the DJI Mini 4 Pro

Good day, folks! Shawn here from Air Photography. With the holiday season fast approaching, I thought I’d make an accessory guide for the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Whether you have a drone enthusiast on your list this year or you’re getting your first drone over the holiday season, you might be wondering what kind of accessories you should get for it. I’ll go over some common accessories that are useful for all types of users. So, let’s jump right in and take a look.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Accessories

Landing Pad

The first item that I think is very important and every drone pilot should carry in their drone bag is a landing pad. You may not always use it, but they fold up small and can fit in most backpacks. They’re very handy because sometimes the surfaces we need to take off from aren’t ideal, like tall grass, snow, sand, or mud. Additionally, the bright colors make it easy for the drone to see if you’re using features such as Precision Landing. The one I’ve been using for the last couple of years is not expensive and makes a great addition to any drone kit.

Screen Protector

Next is a screen protector if you’re using the controller with the built-in screen, the DJI RC2. Although it’s labeled for the Mini 3 Pro, the screens on them are identical, so any Mini 4 Pro or Mini 3 Pro screen protector will work fine. These screen protectors are a nice, inexpensive way to protect your investment.

Remote Controller Cover

Another useful item is a protective cover for the DJI controller. You can get this in a couple of different variations and colors. Some even have a built-in Sun hood, which can help prevent glare on your screen so you can see better on bright sunny days. It fits right over the top of the controller and gives you full access to all the buttons, fold-out antennas, and all the ports at the bottom. When you go to put this in a backpack in a small compartment, it pushes right down, so it’s not going to take up much more room. The rubberized coating gives it a nice grip and offers a little bit of protection for the controller, keeping it from getting all scratched up. If you happen to drop it, it’ll also help protect the screen.

Sun Hood

Next is another style of Sun Hood that you attach permanently and works quite well. The bottom part wraps around the back and is held in place with thumb screws, so it’s easy to remove in the field. When stored away, it protects the screen and the joysticks, and you don’t actually have to take the sticks off, which can save you time and frustration in the field.

Mount The Remote Controller

Another accessory allows you to connect the controller to the handlebars of a bike, making it easier to keep an eye on things. This mount connects to the back of the controller, and if you already have a GoPro mount on your bike, you can connect it like an action camera. The mount comes with a handlebar mount as well, so everything you need is included in the box.

Keeping Your Batteries Warm

If you’re going to be flying in cold temperatures, it’s very important to keep the batteries warm. Using something like an electronic hand warmer on a low setting in your camera bag can help keep the batteries warm, extending your flight time and ensuring a safe and successful flight. This hand warmer also works as a power bank, so you can use it to keep your controller or drone charged up.

Lanyard For Your Remote Controller

Another accessory for the controller is a lanyard, which can be really handy. It allows you to secure the controller around your neck, so you can let go of it if you need to, or if you drop it, it’s not going to go anywhere. It has quick-release clamps on it, so if you want to take it off, you can do so easily, and they just fold out of the way.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Hard Case

Another thing you may want to consider for your Mini 4 Pro is a hard case. Hard cases can give you superior protection for your equipment. Ideally, a backpack or soft case can be more convenient in some situations, but if you’re going to be on a road trip in a car or on a canoe or kayak trip, a hard case is something you definitely want to use. This will keep your equipment dry and protected.

These cases are waterproof, so if you take a spill in the water or get caught in the rain, this will keep your equipment protected. Because it’s the Mini 4 Pro, this hard case is not overly big. It can hold both styles of controllers, the RCN2 and the RC C2, and there’s lots of spots for accessories, batteries, the charging Hub, and other cables. It’ll hold everything from the Fly More Kit plus some extras.

DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters

Lastly, one thing you may want to consider is a set of ND filters. ND Filters can be very important. Freewell has a wonderful set that has every type of filter you’ll ever need, from ND filters to Mist filters, long exposure filters, polarizing filters, and ND polarizing filters. Freewell makes excellent-quality ND filters.

I’ve been using their products for years and have always been very happy with them. ND filters are not for everybody and aren’t necessary for every situation. However, if you’re in the market for high-quality filters for your Mini 4 Pro, I highly recommend the Freewell brand.

These are just a few accessories that can enhance your Mini 4 Pro experience. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pilot, these additions can protect your investment and help you get the most out of your drone. Remember, the right accessories can make a big difference in your drone flying adventures.
