Space Foundation Discovery Center’s New Drone Zone Will Blow Your Mind

The Space Foundation Discovery Center (SFDC) in Colorado Springs is back and better than ever, thanks to a $3.5 million renovation. Starting June 1st, visitors can check out eight exciting new exhibits and enjoy a walk-through of space history. Get ready for an interactive experience from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, according to KKTV News.

Eight New Exhibits: Drone Zone

SFDC’s makeover, brought to life by RTA Architects and GH Phipps, features some cool new additions. One highlight is the Drone Zone, where you can take control and fly drones yourself. You can even try your hand at drone soccer or drone Quidditch, making it a fun spot for all ages. Plus, there’s an awesome mural showcasing space pioneers throughout history.h

Boeing Additive Manufacturing Space Laboratory

Another standout is the Boeing Additive Manufacturing Space Laboratory. This new workshop lets visitors dive into 3D printing with machines and pens. It’s a hands-on experience that makes learning about science super fun.

Renovated Classics

SFDC didn’t just add new stuff; they also revamped some old favorites. The Lockheed Martin Mars Robotics Laboratory and the Northrop Science Center now have fresh looks. The Northrop Science Center is home to the impressive ‘Science On a Sphere’ exhibit, which is a must-see.

A Long History of Education

SFDC has been a go-to spot for learning about space for 12 years, attracting over 300,000 visitors. They offer field trips, workshops, community events, and more. It’s an educational hub for all ages.
