Red Cat Holdings Endorses the American Security Drone Act

Red Cat Holdings, Inc., a Drone Technology company based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, publicly endorsed the American Security Drone Act (ASDA), viewing it as a significant legislative advancement for the federal government, domestic drone businesses, and national security.

The bipartisan act, introduced in November 2023, prohibits the federal government from procuring drones from Countries considered security threats, notably China. It was enacted as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.

Red Cat’s Commitment to American-Made Drones

Jeff Thompson, Founder and CEO of Red Cat, hailed the ASDA as a major milestone for domestic Drone Companies and U.S. national security.

Emphasizing Red Cat’s investment in its subsidiary Teal Drones’ factory, Thompson highlighted their readiness to support defense forces and federal agencies with mass-produced, secure American-made drones.

Teal Drones, operating a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, recently entered mass production and is capable of producing thousands of drones.

Celebrating Domestic Manufacturing Achievements

Teal Drones’ flagship product, the Teal 2, is an affordable, man-portable drone designed for night operations with its advanced night vision camera, modular design, multi-vehicle control, and AI capabilities.

The company’s dedication to domestic manufacturing was recognized with a $750,000 Manufacturing Modernization Grant from the State of Utah, aimed at supporting and modernizing domestic manufacturing.

Teal 2: A Drone for Diverse U.S. Operations

The Teal 2 is tailored to support U.S. military operations, public safety organizations, and government agencies in various environments.

It boasts Blue UAS Certification, approved by the Department of Defense, and is FAA Remote ID approved, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of safety and security.

Brendan Stewart, VP of Regulatory Affairs at Red Cat, expressed that the government’s support of American manufacturing through ASDA is monumental and will ensure the production and use of superior domestic products. Red Cat is committed to supporting legislation that subsidizes the cost of switching drones, working closely with the government and industry peers to provide agencies with access to top-tier technology.
