Key Updates in the Firmware

Let’s Review the release notes. The update includes a firmware upgrade for the beacon, which you’ll need to connect to the drone to apply. Here’s a breakdown of the new features:

  • Co-Pilot Mode: This is the main feature we’ll demonstrate today. It allows you to adjust the drone’s height, distance, and angle while it’s tracking you in real time. Previously, these settings had to be configured before launching the drone.
  • Bird’s Eye Mode: A new 30-meter height option has been added.
  • Zoom Out Mode: New distance options of 15 meters and 30 meters are now available.
  • 360 Spin Mode: You can now adjust the rotation speed to make it faster or slower.
  • RAW Photo Support: The drone now supports RAW photos in DNG format.
  • Crowd-Aware Smart Ascend: Added for cycling mode.
  • Improved Height Control: Enhanced performance in side track and dolly track modes.

These updates, particularly the co-pilot mode, add significant functionality to the drone.

Exploring Co-Pilot Mode

The co-pilot feature is available in follow, dolly track, and side track modes and can be controlled via the beacon or your smartphone after updating both devices. To use it, you must enable it in the settings. For example, in follow mode, swipe up on the beacon, locate the co-pilot option, and toggle it on.

Once enabled, you can use the beacon’s joystick to move the drone side to side, press up or down arrows to adjust the distance, or use the right-hand button to raise or lower the drone. This allows for dynamic adjustments while the drone is flying.

Demonstration in Follow Mode

Let’s see co-pilot in action. With the drone in follow mode and set to mid-distance, I can now adjust its height or distance without landing. For instance, I can lower or raise it using the beacon, and it will continue tracking me from the new position. I can also move it farther away or closer and shift it side to side for different angles. This hybrid mode combines tracking with real-time adjustments, which is especially useful for activities like biking, where you can mount the beacon on the handlebar and tweak settings on the go.

Co-Pilot in Dolly Track Mode

Now, let’s try dolly track mode. After enabling co-pilot and launching the drone, it locks onto me. In dolly track, you need to keep moving to maintain tracking. Using the beacon, I can raise or lower the drone or adjust its distance while it continues to track. This flexibility enhances the drone’s versatility and makes it a powerful tool for dynamic shots.

Conclusion

The new co-pilot mode and other firmware updates significantly enhance the Hover Air X1 Pro and Pro Max. These aren’t gimmicky additions but practical features that improve the drone’s functionality. To stop tracking, simply stand still, and the drone will return to you for landing.

Thanks for watching this quick overview of the co-pilot mode. I hope you found it valuable. We’ll see you in the next video!
