The historic six-story Tyler Chamber of Commerce building, an architectural Art Deco gem built in 1938, reportedly received a revolutionary exterior cleaning this past Saturday thanks to cutting-edge Drone Technology from Poseidon Power Washing.

After a one-week weather delay, the veteran-owned Tyler-based company successfully utilized their exclusive Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to safely SoftWash the delicate exterior of the landmark building located at 315 N. Broadway Ave. Spectators enjoyed refreshments from local vendors while watching the cleaning.

“Using drones to assist in the cleaning of such a prominent and historic building is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in our industry,” said Jim Steinmark, owner and CEO of Poseidon Power Washing, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

The drone SoftWash method boosts efficiency and reduces environmental impact compared to traditional cleaning approaches. It eliminates hazards associated with boom lifts and scaffolding, enabling safer and faster cleaning for mid-rise buildings up to 10 stories tall.

Steinmark first introduced the drone technology in September 2022 for Poseidon’s sister company, Patriot SoftWash. It has been praised as the only UAS SoftWash solution available in Texas for buildings of this height.

“We understand the importance of maintaining clean and attractive exteriors for homes and businesses,” Steinmark noted. “With our team of skilled professionals and our dedication to customer satisfaction, we look forward to helping our clients enhance the beauty and longevity of their properties.”

Established in 2017, Poseidon Power Washing is known for its eco-friendly SoftWash and Power Wash cleaning services throughout the Tyler area.

DroneXL’s Take

The use of drones for exterior building cleaning, especially for historic and delicate structures, such as the Dubai Mall, represents an exciting advancement in the commercial drone services industry. Poseidon Power Washing’s successful deployment of UAS technology to safely clean the Tyler Chamber of Commerce building in Texas demonstrates the potential for drones to disrupt traditional methods and deliver superior, safer, and more environmentally friendly results.

As drone hardware and autonomous flight capabilities continue to improve, we expect to see more companies adopt this innovative approach for challenging cleaning and maintenance tasks on tall buildings. The efficiency, precision, and hazard reduction enabled by drones will likely make them an increasingly common sight in the exterior cleaning and facilities maintenance sector in the coming years.
