The Drone Incident occurred around 7:30 PM on Tuesday night, just as the NBA season was tipping off. Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries when the drone reportedly struck a light pole while attempting to navigate between trees before falling into the crowd. The drone operator, identified as a CNN employee, reported to Police that the crash occurred when their drone accidentally struck a light pole while attempting to maneuver between two trees.

Multiple Injuries Reported

Derek Scrima, one of the victims, suffered cuts to two fingers from the falling drone.

“I was completely caught off guard, it was scary because my mind was like I could have just got my two fingers cut off,” he told reporters.

Another victim, Yousef Kobeissi, described the frightening moment:

“I hear a loud sound, sounds like a banging sound, suddenly I feel something hit my head… I was initially very scared.”

A third person, a woman, had to be transported from the scene by stretcher.

Official Response

TNT events, who was broadcasting the game, released a statement acknowledging the incident:

“Unfortunately, there was an incident involving a drone and fans attending tonight’s event. On-site medical and safety personnel immediately attended to the situation. We are currently investigating further and wish all involved well.”
