Good day folks! Shawn here from Air Photography. Today I’ll share a quick firmware video about the DJI Neo‘s recent update from a couple of days ago.
New Goggles N3 Support
Most notably, this update added support for the new Goggles N3, DJI’s new low-cost goggles that support both the Neo and the Avata 2. Although they are a low-cost option, these goggles are feature-rich. They support head tracking, easy Acro, have built-in goggles defogging, and can be worn over corrective eyewear.
I’ve made a Review video about these goggles which I’ll link in the description if you’re interested in learning more.
Live View Stabilization
Even if you don’t plan on purchasing the goggles, this firmware update offers interesting new features. They’ve added live view stabilization when flying with the Goggles N3 or Goggles 3. In the past, the view could be shaky, especially on windy days. Now you can set the live view to rock-steady stabilization, which helps new FPV pilots who might find the movement nauseating.
Vertical Shooting Mode
The update has added vertical shooting capability through the DJI Fly App. While limited to 1080p at 60 frames per second, this resolution is more than adequate for social media content.
Virtual Controller Improvements
When using your phone as a virtual controller with virtual joysticks, you can now operate in horizontal mode instead of being restricted to vertical orientation. This provides a larger preview of what you’re filming.
Audio Recording Enhancements
For DJI RC-N2 or RC-N3 users, they’ve added audio recording capability via the app. They’ve also included a new noise reduction effect to make ambient sound capture more natural.
Performance Updates
Lastly, they’ve optimized the positioning performance and increased flight speed during tracking. While the exact speed improvement isn’t specified, any enhancement is welcome.
Conclusion
These new features for the DJI Neo demonstrate DJI’s commitment to refining their products, adding new features, fixing problems, and improving user experience. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you in the next one.
