Estimated read time 3 min read

In a significant development for drone enthusiasts and professionals, DJI has released a comprehensive firmware update for its Mavic 3E/3T drones. The update, which spans across the aircraft, remote controller, and associated apps, brings a host of new features and improvements to the popular drone series.

Firmware Update Highlights

The latest Firmware Update, released on April 7, 2024, introduces several notable additions to the Mavic 3E/3T drones. Among the key features is the Slope Route, which simplifies photogrammetry for single slopes. Additionally, Live Mission Recording for linear routes now allows for adjustable altitude during flight, with waypoints added when the aircraft is close to the subject serving as the center line of the flight area.

DJI has also incorporated a Custom Break Point feature for flight tasks, enabling users to modify the break point within the flight route settings. Furthermore, the update brings a Smart Low-Light mode for waypoint routes, enhancing shooting effects in low-light environments.

Enhanced Safety and Usability

Safety and usability remain a top priority for DJI, as evidenced by the introduction of Vision Assist. This function, accessible through the aircraft settings, provides a real-time surrounding view of the aircraft in the lower right corner of the liveview. Moreover, the AR RTH Route and AR Landing Point, enabled by default, offer additional visual guidance during the return-to-home process.

The firmware update also includes a White Balance setting for the Mavic 3E camera, expanding the creative options for aerial photography enthusiasts. DJI has adjusted the product software service areas and optimized various aspects of the user interface, such as liveview settings and route creation for linear routes.

Seamless Integration and Improved Performance

To ensure a seamless user experience, DJI has made it possible for custom settings for Enhanced Transmission to be saved and automatically applied to the remote controller and aircraft upon starting the DJI Pilot 2 app. The logic behind the Max Altitude and Smart RTH settings has also been optimized, allowing current settings to be retained after a restart.

It is essential to note that once the firmware is updated, the aircraft and remote controller cannot revert to earlier versions (v09.00.05.05 and v02.01.02.02, respectively). Users are advised to restart the aircraft and remote controller after the update is complete and ensure that all components, including the DJI Pilot 2 app, are running the latest versions to avoid any compatibility issues.

The latest firmware update for the DJI Mavic 3E/3T drones demonstrates the company’s commitment to continuously improving its products and providing users with cutting-edge features. With enhanced safety, usability, and performance, these drones are set to redefine aerial photography and surveying capabilities. As DJI continues to innovate, drone enthusiasts and professionals can look forward to even more exciting developments in the future.
