New DJI Dock 3 Generation Spotted in Leaked Photos

Estimated read time 2 min read

NGDrone, a reliable source for DJI product leaks, has shared images on X that appear to show the next generation of the DJI Dock 3 system. The leaked photos suggest DJI is developing an updated version of their autonomous drone-in-a-box solution, though specific improvements remain unclear at this stage.

Mystery Surrounds New DJI Dock 3

The most notable image shows what appears to be a camouflaged DJI Dock unit secured to the roof of a commercial van outside an industrial facility. The device’s presence in transit could indicate field testing or early distribution, though this cannot be confirmed at this time.

Industry speculation centers on which DJI platform will pair with this new dock iteration. Two primary candidates have emerged: the current DJI M3D (Matrice 3D) drone or a possible new Matrice variant, speculatively referred to as the M4D. The current DJI Dock 2 supports the Matrice 3D series, making a next-generation Matrice integration a logical progression.

DJI’s continued investment in dock systems reflects growing demand for autonomous drone operations across industries. The original DJI Dock and its successor have found applications in infrastructure inspection, security monitoring, and emergency response, where automated deployment capabilities prove essential.

While specific enhancements remain unknown, any new DJI Dock would likely build upon the existing platform’s core capabilities, which include automated charging, weather protection, and remote operation features. Current industry trends suggest potential improvements could focus on enhanced environmental hardening, faster charging systems, or expanded communication capabilities.

The timing and technical specifications of this new DJI Dock 3 generation remain unconfirmed. DroneXL will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
