Lightweight Telephoto Lens Expands DJI DL Lineup

DJI, a leading drone manufacturer, is set to release a new DL 75mm f/1.8 prime lens, according to well-known DJI leaker OsitaLV. This lightweight telephoto lens will be a valuable addition to the DJI DL lens lineup, which is designed for professional aerial photography and cinematography.

The DJI DL lenses feature a lightweight carbon fiber casing to reduce the payload on the gimbal and camera, improving stability when shooting. These lenses are natively compatible with the DJI DL mount (2.3-inch diameter) and can be used with the Zenmuse X7 and X9 gimbal cameras. When used with the Zenmuse X7, the focal length crop factor is 1.5.

The current DL lens lineup includes focal lengths ranging from 24mm to 75mm (35mm equivalent), with apertures of f/2.8. The lenses weigh around 0.39-0.40 pounds, including the balancing ring and lens hood. The DJI Ronin 4D cinema camera is also compatible with select DL lenses, as well as other mounts like Leica M and Sony E.

The addition of a 75mm f/1.8 prime lens will provide aerial photographers and cinematographers with a longer focal length option while maintaining the compact form factor of the DL lenses. The faster f/1.8 aperture will also allow for better low-light performance and shallower depth of field compared to the existing f/2.8 lenses.

As DJI continues to expand its ecosystem of professional aerial imaging tools, the new DL 75mm f/1.8 lens will offer creators more flexibility and creative options for capturing stunning aerial footage with the DJI Inspire 3.
