DJI Introduces New Smartphone Stabilizers with Enhanced Tracking Features

DJI unveiled its seventh-generation smartphone stabilizers today, expanding its Osmo Mobile series with two new models featuring enhanced subject tracking capabilities. The company’s latest release introduces the Osmo Mobile 7P and Osmo Mobile 7, both incorporating DJI’s newest stabilization technology and ActiveTrack 7.0 system.

The flagship Osmo Mobile 7P ($149) introduces a new Multifunctional Module that combines tracking capabilities with integrated light control and audio features. The module connects via USB-C to provide both audio transmission and power delivery, according to DJI specifications. The entry-level Osmo Mobile 7 ($89) offers the same core stabilization features in what DJI claims is the lightest gimbal in its class, weighing approximately 10 ounces (300g).

Technical Analysis

The ActiveTrack 7.0 system, when used with DJI’s Mimo app, introduces several tracking improvements. The system now offers Smart Capture for multiple subject detection and claims enhanced tracking persistence when subjects are temporarily obscured. Both models feature a new Side Wheel control system for focal length adjustment and manual focus control, with long-press functionality for fill light adjustment.
