Leading Stabilizer Company Rolls Out Exciting New Features and Optimizations

DJI, the world’s premier manufacturer of camera stabilizers and gimbals, has just released significant firmware updates for its DJI RS 4, RS 4 Pro, and Focus Pro products. These updates, available as of April 9th, 2024, the same day as the official launch of these products, bring a host of new features and performance enhancements that are sure to excite filmmakers and videographers alike.

RS 4 and RS 4 Pro: Self-Check and Improved Stabilization

Both the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro benefit from the addition of a gimbal self-check feature, which will help users ensure their equipment is functioning optimally before shooting. DJI has also optimized the stabilization performance of these gimbals, promising even smoother footage.

The RS 4 now supports BG30 and BG70 Grips, giving users more flexibility in how they handle their setup. The RS 4 Pro has received improvements to its user experience when paired with the DJI Focus Pro, streamlining the workflow for professional users.

Focus Pro: Expanded Lens Profiles and Autofocus Improvements

The DJI Focus Pro, the company’s advanced focus control system, has also received major updates. Users can now add up to 15 group lens profiles, greatly expanding the range of lenses that can be used with the system.

The update also enables focus pull and electronic zoom control for supported camera lenses when the grip is connected via Bluetooth or cable, even without the F or Z motors connected. When used with the DJI RS Focus Motor (2022) and DJI LiDAR Range Finder (RS), the Focus Pro now supports autofocus, a feature that is sure to be appreciated by solo operators.

Other improvements include optimized car detection, more stable distance measurement in challenging lighting conditions, and helpful prompts when the grip’s battery voltage is abnormal. The hand unit now displays connection status when linked to the Ronin 4D or Inspire 3.

Updating Firmware: A Straightforward Process

To take advantage of these new features and improvements, users will need to update their firmware using the DJI Ronin app (v1.7.0 for iOS and Android) or DJI Assistant 2 (Ronin Series) v2.1.11, depending on the device. DJI reminds users to keep the app connected throughout the update process and to protect any attached cameras and lenses, as motors will power off during the update.

In the event of an update failure, DJI advises restarting the device and trying again. As always, it’s crucial to keep the DJI Ronin app updated to the latest version when performing firmware updates.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

These latest firmware updates demonstrate DJI’s ongoing commitment to refining and enhancing its already impressive lineup of stabilizers and focus control systems. By listening to user feedback and proactively addressing areas for improvement, DJI continues to set the standard in the industry.

As filmmakers and videographers incorporate these updates into their workflows, they can expect even greater control, precision, and reliability from their DJI equipment. With these tools in hand, creatives are better equipped than ever to bring their visions to life on screen.
