Estimated read time 3 min read

Good day, folks! Sean here from Air Photography. Today, I’m excited to share with you a backpack that has genuinely caught my interest. In full transparency, this backpack was sent to me by Colax, and it’s currently featured on Kickstarter. I don’t usually create content about Kickstarter products—typically, I decline such offers from companies a couple of times a month. However, this product immediately appealed to me.

The Backpack’s Unique Appeal

This is no ordinary backpack. While it might not captivate everyone, for a specific group of users, it could become an essential item for outdoor adventures. One of its unique features is its own power-generating station. Additionally, it includes built-in selfie sticks, which we’ll examine more closely shortly. Colax plans to offer different packages, making the backpack customizable to your needs. For instance, the power station is removable for those who prefer not to carry the extra weight on certain outings.

Modular Design and Capacity

Thanks to its modular design, you can reconfigure the backpack to suit various needs. You might choose a different type of storage container for the front, which we’ll explore later. This backpack can store an immense amount of gear, with numerous connection points and straps for attaching items like tents, sleeping bags, or tripods. It boasts a total capacity of 35 liters, distributed among a 6-liter drone bag, a 24-liter main bag, and a 5-liter front accessory bag.

Exoskeleton Design and Versatility

Featuring an exoskeleton design with a metal frame, the backpack allows you to add or remove components, including the drone bag at the top. This detachability is convenient if you’re at base camp and need to fly your drone or carry your camera without the entire pack. You can attach a shoulder strap or use the built-in handle for easy transport.

Power Station and Storage Features

Now, let’s delve into the power station integrated into the front. It includes two traditional plugs, two USB-C ports (with 60W and 100W power delivery), and two quick-charge-compatible USB-A ports. Charging options are versatile, including the capability for solar charging through an optional portable solar panel. This feature allows for power generation on the go. The power station is fully removable, and in its place, you can attach an optional 5-liter accessory bag for additional storage.

Drone Bag and Additional Storage

The top portion of the backpack houses what’s referred to as the “Drone Bag,” capable of accommodating a Mavic 3, with space for extra batteries and a charger. Removal and reattachment of this bag are straightforward, enhancing the backpack’s versatility. Additionally, the main compartment offers ample storage for all your essentials, accessible from the bottom front for quick retrieval.

Built-in Selfie Sticks and Final Thoughts

Perhaps the most exciting feature is the built-in selfie sticks, which are fully extendable and removable. These allow creators to attach their camera for vlogging or capturing unique angles of their hiking adventures. With the option to mount a light or a 360 camera, these poles offer unparalleled filming possibilities.
