Broward County, Florida, is stepping up its mosquito control game with some high-flying technology. The county is now using a drone to spray insecticide over vast parks, wetlands, and conservation areas that are tough to reach by traditional means, reports the Sun-Sentinel.

This drone, rented from Leading Edge Aerial Technologies in Daytona Beach, can carry about 15 pounds of insecticide, enough to cover three acres in one flight. This precise approach means less insecticide is used, saving money and minimizing the impact on other Wildlife.

Cody Cash from Leading Edge Aerial Technologies says the drone is making a “huge difference” in controlling mosquitoes in Broward County. The drone’s ability to reach remote areas with minimal environmental disturbance is a big advantage over other spraying methods.
