Since the initial launch in August at two DFW locations, Wing and Walmart have experienced an enthusiastic reception, reaching 60,000 homes through their drone delivery service.
Customers have embraced the convenience, ordering a variety of products including groceries, household essentials, and medicines, and receiving them in under 30 minutes.
The service not only offers quick delivery but also ensures the safe transport of items, even fragile ones like eggs, Wing explains.
A customer from Frisco, TX, shared their experience: “I had a Walmart delivery from Wing when we were running low on key ingredients for a recipe. We were so impressed that our eggs were delivered safely and likely had a safer journey than traveling by car in our trunk.”
Another customer recounted the speed and excitement of the service:
“We ordered through the app and received fresh guacamole and some candy within 15 mins. The kids enjoyed watching the drone on the app until it dropped our package safely in our driveway. Will definitely use it again. Much quicker than a drive to the store.”

Regular customers have been ordering approximately two times per week, with the top 25% averaging around three orders per week. Remarkably, the average flight time is just 5 minutes!
Regulatory Milestones and Future Prospects
Wing’s drone delivery service, the first to receive a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate in the United States, now boasts an environmental approval for the entire DFW metroplex, a first of its kind by the FAA.
This approval paves the way for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations without visual observers, not only in DFW but potentially in other major U.S. cities.
