Today, DJI unveiled the DJI Matrice 400, an enterprise drone platform engineered for long-endurance missions like Search and Rescue, power line inspections, and large-scale mapping. With a 59-minute flight time, enhanced obstacle avoidance, and a 13.2-pound payload capacity, this drone sets a new benchmark for professionals. DJI’s official release highlights its cutting-edge features, promising safer and more efficient operations across industries.
Unmatched Flight Endurance and Versatility
The DJI Matrice 400 achieves up to 59 minutes of forward flight and 53 minutes of hovering, even with a payload. Its IP55 rating ensures reliability in extreme conditions, from -4°F to 122°F, making it ideal for harsh environments like offshore wind turbine inspections or maritime patrols. The drone can take off from stationary vessels and land on moving ships, expanding its utility for coastal operations.

“DJI sets the gold standard worldwide for operational safety, efficiency, and reliability with our enterprise drones. This is why professionals across industries rely on DJI drones for critical search and rescue missions, situational awareness, and commercial jobs around the world,” said Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI. “With DJI Matrice 400, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with nearly an hour of flight time and more intelligent features to ensure the safety of people and property.”

Advanced Obstacle Avoidance for Complex Environments
Equipped with LiDAR, mmWave radar, and full-color low-light fisheye sensors, the Matrice 400 navigates challenging terrains at speeds up to 56 mph. According to the drone maker it even detects small obstacles like high-voltage power lines in low-light conditions, critical for nighttime inspections in mountainous regions. The fusion positioning system ensures stable flight near glass buildings or wind turbines, enabling safe returns from elevated sites without pre-updated coordinates. This precision enhances operational safety for tasks like infrastructure monitoring.

Robust Video Transmission for Remote Operations
The drone’s O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission system supports image transmission up to 24.9 miles, using a ten-antenna aircraft design and a high-gain phased array antenna on the remote controller. A built-in relay module allows one Matrice 400 to extend the range of another in obstructed environments like mountain ranges. With dual DJI Cellular Dongle 2 units, the Matrice 400 supports the sub-2G frequency band, seamlessly switching to the stronger carrier network for reliable connectivity in both urban and remote settings.

Intelligent Features Streamline Operations
The DJI Matrice 400 introduces automated tools like Smart Detection, which identifies vehicles and subjects in thermal mode, and Smart AR Projection, which displays power lines and landmarks on the controller for easier navigation. Real-Time Terrain Follow maintains consistent ground clearance in any direction, critical for mapping or inspections. These features reduce operator workload, boosting efficiency in time-sensitive missions like emergency response.

Payload Flexibility for Diverse Missions
With a 13.2-pound payload capacity and four E-Port V2 ports, the Matrice 400 supports up to seven simultaneous payloads, including:
- Zenmuse H30 Series: All-weather multi-sensor payload for capturing images night or day. It integrates five major modules—a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, an infrared thermal camera, a laser range finder, and an NIR auxiliary light.
- Zenmuse L2: Provides DJI flight platforms with more precise, efficient, and reliable geospatial data using frame-based LiDAR, a self-developed high-accuracy IMU system, and a 4/3 CMOS RGB mapping camera.
- Zenmuse P1: Designed for photogrammetry flight missions, it integrates a full-frame sensor with interchangeable fixed-focus lenses on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal.
- Zenmuse S1: DJI’s first spotlight designed for multi-payload drone platforms, utilizing LEP laser bright light technology, offering high brightness and long illumination distance, and supporting multiple lighting modes.
- Zenmuse V1: DJI’s first loudspeaker designed for multi-payload drone platforms. It boasts high volume and long broadcast distance, and supports multiple broadcast modes.
- Manifold 3: A high-performance embedded computer that can enhance flight, gimbal, and camera control, optimizing efficiency across various operational missions with robust processing.
This versatility caters to industries from construction to public safety, with compatibility for third-party payloads enhancing customization.

Industry Impact and Regulatory Considerations
The Matrice 400‘s extended range and payload capacity could reshape enterprise drone operations, reducing downtime and increasing coverage for large-scale projects.
DJI ensures enterprise Data Security with robust privacy controls, preventing flight logs, images, or videos from syncing to servers without operator consent. Local Data Mode enables offline flights by disconnecting the DJI Pilot 2 app, and users can opt for third-party software. Operators can manage privacy settings and clear data anytime via the app. Since 2017, DJI has undergone independent audits by firms like Booz Allen Hamilton and holds certifications such as ISO 27001.
