DJI, the renowned drone manufacturer, has made a surprising leap into the e-bike market with the launch of its Avinox Drive System, as announced in a press release on July 3, 2024. This groundbreaking system, showcased at Eurobike 2024, aims to redefine the electric mountain bike (eMTB) experience with its advanced technology and innovative features.
From Drones to E-Bikes: DJI’s Technological Transition
DJI’s entry into the e-bike market leverages its expertise in drone and camera stabilization technology. Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI, explained the move:
“DJI’s legacy of passion for innovation, as well as our expertise in battery and motor technology accumulated in drones and camera stabilization systems, have led us to the creation of Avinox. It is a natural move for DJI to expand into this field as we have been mastering the technologies essential to an electric bike system.”
Avinox Drive System: Power Meets Intelligence
The Avinox Drive System boasts impressive specs:
- A compact drive unit weighing only 5.56 lbs (2.52 kg)
- 105 N·m of torque
- Smart-Assist Algorithm for intelligent power adjustment
- Four standard riding modes: Auto, Eco, Trail, and Turbo
- Boost mode for extra power when needed
Extended Range and Rapid Charging
Avinox offers two battery options:
- 600Wh and 800Wh capacities
- GaN 3x fast charging technology
- The 800Wh battery charges from 0% to 75% in just 1.5 hours
Smart Features and Connectivity
The system includes:
- 2-inch OLED full-color touchscreen display
- Avinox smartphone app for additional features
- Dual Wireless Controllers with Bluetooth connectivity
Amflow PL: The First Avinox-Equipped E-Bike
DJI also introduced the Amflow PL, the world’s first all-around electric mountain bike equipped with the Avinox system. Key features include:
- 850 W peak power (250 W nominal)
- Ultra-light body weighing 42.3 lbs (19.2 kg)
