Türkiye’s Bayraktar TB3 UCAV Sets New Endurance Record

Türkiye’s unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), the Bayraktar TB3, has successfully completed a groundbreaking 32-hour long-duration flight test. Developed by Baykar, the Bayraktar TB3 is specifically tailored for Türkiye’s newly commissioned aircraft carrier.

Record-Breaking Flight Performance

During the test at the Akıncı Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, the UCAV maintained a continuous flight at an average altitude of 20,000 feet. Powered by the domestically developed PD-170 engine from TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI), it covered a distance of 5,700 kilometers.

Milestones in Bayraktar TB3’s Development

Bayraktar TB3’s endurance test surpasses its previous record of a 12-hour flight, underscoring significant advancements in mid-altitude system performance.

The UCAV was first publicly displayed at Istanbul Atatürk Airport during the Teknofest technology event, showcasing its capabilities to a wider audience.

Advanced Features and Export Success

The UCAV is distinguished by its foldable wing structure, enabling it to operate from short-runway ships like the TCG Anadolu. With a maximum takeoff weight of 1,450 kilograms and a payload capacity of 280 kilograms, it is nearly twice as heavy as its predecessor, the Bayraktar TB2.

Baykar, with a focus on UAV-related research and development since 2003, has gained significant revenue from exports, leading Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry in exports. Baykar’s export agreements span 33 Countries, highlighting the global reach of its UAV technology.

The successful flight test of the Bayraktar TB3 UCAV marks a significant achievement for Türkiye’s defense capabilities and Baykar’s technological advancements. As Baykar prepares to integrate the TB3 into aircraft carrier operations, Türkiye positions itself as a leader in UCAV development and deployment.
