Five Innovative Drone Startups Vie for $3M Prize in World’s Largest UAS Competition

Estimated read time 4 min read

A groundbreaking group of Drone Technology innovators from across the globe are preparing to showcase their cutting-edge solutions at the prestigious GENIUS NY competition in Syracuse. Set for October 28, 2024, at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, the world’s largest accelerator program for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) will award a spectacular $3 million in prizes, with a grand prize of $1 million, according to an announcement from Empire State Development.

The Game-Changing Contenders

The competition has attracted five revolutionary startups pushing the boundaries of drone technology:

Aerialoop (Miami, FL)

This innovative company is transforming middle-mile logistics by creating efficient drone networks between warehouses and stores. Their solution promises to dramatically reduce shipping times and costs, potentially revolutionizing retail supply chains.

Aviant (Oslo, Norway)

The Norwegian team is tackling the challenging last-mile delivery problem with advanced autonomous drone technology. Their system offers on-demand delivery services that significantly cut delivery times while improving customer satisfaction through seamless automation.

Crover (Edinburgh, Scotland)

In a unique application of drone technology, Crover has developed specialized uncrewed systems that can literally “swim” through grain storage facilities. This innovative approach helps facility operators reduce losses, enhance quality control, and improve safety in grain management.

Flyhound (New York, NY)

Originally designed for locating missing hikers, Flyhound’s drone-mounted cell phone detection system has evolved into a powerful tool for public safety organizations. Their technology has expanded beyond wilderness Search and Rescue to include urban missing person scenarios.

INVOLI (Lausanne, Switzerland)

The Swiss team is enhancing drone traffic management with their innovative surveillance solutions for low-altitude airspace. Their technology aims to improve safety and operational efficiency for drone operators, small airports, and infrastructure managers.
