Drone Leads to Capture of Armed Suspect in Texas

A routine traffic stop in Montgomery County, Texas, turned into a dramatic drone-assisted manhunt on May 21. A passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old Jeremy Hebert, reportedly fired at a deputy and fled, leading to a tense search that ended with Hebert being shot and arrested in a nearby subdivision.

Shooting and Chase in Porter, Texas

Around 8:20 a.m., a Montgomery County deputy stopped a vehicle at Fuel Max on Valley Ranch Pkwy. and Azalea Blvd. The deputy discovered Hebert had outstanding warrants, including one for failing to stop in Montgomery County and another for contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Louisiana.

Drone “Eagle 4” Finds Hiding Suspect

When asked to exit the vehicle, Hebert fired at the deputy and ran into the Valley Ranch Subdivision. Multiple agencies, including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the Fire Marshal’s Office, established a perimeter and launched a drone named “Eagle 4” to aid in the search. The drone pilot located Hebert hiding in a backyard on American Yellowwood Place, preventing a potential ambush.

Confrontation and Arrest

Upon discovery, Hebert raised his weapon, prompting two deputies to discharge their firearms. Hebert received immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition. He faces several charges, including aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest, and unlawful carrying of a weapon, with bonds totaling $227,000.

Driver Also Arrested

The vehicle’s driver, 28-year-old Sarah Frame, was charged with possession of controlled substances, facing bonds totaling $4,500.

Investigation Underway

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident. Constable Hayden praised the coordination of responding agencies and the critical role the drone played in preventing further danger.
